A WEKEND AT THE ICE HOTEL
About 20 minutes west of Quebec City in Canada, there’s a unique place – the only hotel in North America made entirely of ice and snow. We sent Sandy Russell to find out more…
When I arrive, the outside temperature was – 28 o C! I thought, “Do I really want to sleep in a hotel made of ice?”
But when I walked inside, I was amazed. It was warmer than outside – about -4o C. This is because of the wallls – they’re 120 centimeters thick. And the hotel was absolutely wonderful! The floors and ceilings were ice. There were beautiful ice sculptures everywhere. There were also two art galleries, a movie theater, a skating rink, and a wedding chapel. Even the drinking glasses were made of ice. And in the rooms? Yes, even the beds were made of ice. I slept in a sleeping bag on a mattress, and the mattress was on top of deer skins. It was a lot of fun!
They build the ice hotel every year in December, and you can stay there from January to April. In 2002, more than 50,000 people visited the hotel to look at it, and 3,000 guests stayed at least one night.
Beaches, mountains, lakes, museums – boring! The place to go is the ice hotel.

II) A)Đọc kỹ đọan văn sau và chọn phương án đúng (A hoặc B, C, D) cho mỗi câu.
Sometimes you know things about people the first time you see them, for example, that you want to be friends with them or that you don’t trust them. But perhaps this kind of intuition isn’t as hard to explain as it may seem. For instance, people give out body language signal all the time. The way you hold your body, head and arms tells people about your mood. If you hold your arms tightly at your sides, or fold them across your chest, people will generally feel that you are being defensive. Holding your head to one side shows interest in the others, while an easy, open posture indicates that you are self-confident. All this affects the way you feel about someone.
Also, a stranger may remind you of a meeting with someone. This may be because of something as simple as the fact that he or she is physically similar to someone who treated you well or badly. Your feeling about a stranger could be influenced by a smell in the air that brings to mind a place where you were happy as a child. Since even a single word can bring back a memory such as that, you may never realize it is happening.
1. What does the word “open” in the passage most closely mean?
A. unrestrained B. relaxed C. confined D. unlimited
2. What influences your impression of a person you meet the first time?

3. What one fells about a stranger may be influenced by something that ................
A. strengthens one’s past behaviours B. reminds one of one’s past treatment
C. revives one’s past memories D. points to one’s childhoods
4. What does the second paragraph discuss?
A. Meanings of signal some implies towards a stranger.
B. Factors that may influence one’s feelings about a stranger.
C. How people usually behave to a stranger.
D. Factors that cause people to act differently.
5. Intuition described in the passage can be explained by means of ........................

The Secrets of a Very Long Life
There are several places in the world that are famous for people who live a very long time. These places are usually in mountainous areas, far away from modern cities. Hunza, in the Himalayas, is where many people over 100 years of age are still in good physical health. Additionally, men of ninety and women of fifty still have babies. Scientists think that these people have these benefits: a healthful unpolluted environment with clean air and water; a simple diet high in vitamins, fiber, and nutrition, but low in fat, cholesterol, sugar, and unnatural chemicals; and physical work as well as other activities in the fields. The Caucasus Mountains in Russia are also famous for the longevity of its inhabitants – mostly farmers. One reason for the good health of the people might be regular exercise in the moderate climate: the temperature is about 70 Fahrenheit all year long. In addition, the water from mountain streams is high in minerals – a very valuable resource for people, vegetables, fruits, and wildlife.
Men over 80 years old in Hunza can be new fathers.
People in Hunza consume a lot of vitamins, fiber, fat, sugar, nutrition, etc.
It’s very cold in winter and hot in summer in the Caucasus Mountains.
The water in the Caucasus Mountains contains a lot of minerals

He had reached the age of 65 and the Electronics company y for which I had WOrked for the last 30 years organized a party in a well -known restaurant to mark his retirement .The celebration was attended by many people. A lot of them were his work colleagues,as well as family and friends. We all had a delicious meal and then there was dancing till late at night. The music was provided by a fOlk band and .every one knew each other and were very relaxed. This celebration was memorable for me becauseI was a young girl and for once I was allowed to stay up late with the adults. I also remember that every one was genuinely happy, especially my uncle, who had a beaming smile on his face throughout the evening
